Aside from general laziness, one of the main reasons I’ve been off the blog lately is because I’ve been busy eating. This delicious poke bowl is one example of what I’ve been eating.
A poke bowl is a Hawaiian rice dish that is topped with raw fish that’s been marinated in an Asian-style sauce, but that’s just one of many versions. It’s like anything else; there are tons of varieties.
I got this bowl from PokeMan Food Truck, a sorta-portmanteau-but-not-really nod toward Pokemon, which is itself an actual-portmanteau of the words “pocket” and “monster.”
My bowl was topped with tuna and salmon. The salmon was covered in spicy mayo, which added a nice kick and umami flavor to the rice. As you can see, there were a number of other veggies, some pickled and some not, complementing all of the fish and rice.
A wonderful bowl. Try it out!
